Born in Santo Domingo on September 24, 1893. Writer, historian, educator and lawyer. Son of the well known educator Félix Evaristo Mejía. Graduated from law school in the Professional Institute (1914) and from Civil Law, Public Law and Political Science from the Havana University (1919). Started working as a teacher in the Normal School and after passed on giving classes in the Philosophy and Law Divisions of the Santo Domingo University. Worked as a lawyer in San Pedro de Macorís, Santo Domingo and in Cuba, where he updated, in the Havana University, his knowledge in law acquired in the Dominican Republic. 

In public services he worked as judge of the Court, Lawyer of State in Tribunals of Land, Deputy to the National Congress in Santo Domingo and for the counties of Duarte, Samaná and San Rafael. Presided over the Institute of Historic Investigations and the National Institute of Criminology and was member of the Dominican Academy of Language, of the Bolivian Society of Santo Domingo and of the Commission of Historical and Philosophical studies of the Colombian society. Among the foreign institutions with those that he collaborated are: Academy of Penal Sciences of the University of Paris and Mexico, the School of Lawyers from Havana and the National Academy of History and Geography of Mexico. 

His political position in favor of the people’s interests his constant questioning of the conservative regimes and his attitude of right and unbribable man cost him various arrests. His production in the field of history, politics and law is abundant and significant for the national bibliography. 


Born in Santo Domingo on December 22, 1933. Lawyer, economist, writer, deputy. Son of Gustavo Mejía Ricart and Ernestina Guzmán. Ex Deputy to the Congress for the Dominican Revolutionary Party for the National District; professor of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo; professor of the London University. Was Director of the Industrial Development Corporation (1978); Director of the Economy School of the University (1966-68); Director and owner of the newspaper named La Voz del Pueblo. Was invited professor in various universities of the United States, Mexico, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. 

Lived in exile since 1955 until 1961, serving as a professor in Mexico, Moscow and London. Author of multiple works of economy and law, written from 1953 up to his death on June 20, 2000. Among them are Social Classes in Santo Domingo; Juridical projections of the Concubinaro and their Regulation; The Economy of the Trujillato; The Coffee in Venezuela; 20 Years Economic and Social Thought; Course of Programming and Global Planning of the Economy. Founder of the Dominican School of Economists; founder of the Federation of University of Professors of the UASD. Collaborated to regulate of diverse newspapers and national magazines. As a politician, aspired for the presidential nomination of his party in two opportunities. Maintained full domain of the Spanish, English, French and German languages.
